DescriptionI couldn't believe it when I first saw this cover. It was the PERFECT blue Superman rendition. Why? Not only is he in one of my favorite costumes, but he also paints an "S" in his flight path—something only Superman can do. Perhaps the "S" stood for Stuart Immonen? As it happens, I've been looking for a Superman sample from him as well. Anyhow, this was one of those covers I had to have.Superman hype isn't what it was in the '90s. Especially after his death, I'm not sure if they truly recovered. I mean, who can blame them? DC did such a kick-ass job with everything leading up to the introduction of Doomsday, the actual death, and even the four-way split Supermen that we all knew it was going to be impossible to top. But hey, they never gave up, and this cover was a testament to that. In fact, this cover was four years AFTER the big Death of Superman events, which I know was a big swing and miss at the time, but for me, it solidified a moment in Superman history where DC tried to do something different. The personalities between the Red and the Blue were super complex, yet they both loved Lois Lane. So with that said, this checked off a ton of "S" checkboxes for my Superman nostalgia. Great cover! And Immonen is such an under aprreciated artist, especially on Superman, he was aweome!!

Bright and bold! Superman Blue shines and emblazons the atmosphere like a bolt of lighting over the Metropolis cityscape!

I wasn't reading Superman at the time, but I do remember red/blue Superman and thinking they were cool ideas (very 90s). Congrats on picking up a cover that checks all the super-boxes!
