Description

I met Neal Adams at convention in 2013 and asked him if he could do a Warlord on Battleground. Neal responded right away saying, 'that's the Mike Grell created character. I know Mike'.
I then requested something like a Conan piece in the rain, full body, savage like. Marilyn Adams was with him and took notes.

A few months later, Marilyn sent me a message that something was not quite right with my commission. I would have to wait. I was also asked if I wanted the rain as was in the Conan piece. I responded 'Yes, but since I'm waiting so long, would Neal put a Silhouette of Deimos in the background as well.' No problem, I was told and you can see the results with my other post.

I was on Facebook and Marilyn was selling Adams artwork and to my surprise there was a Warlord pre-lim for sale. Now why would Neal be drawing a Warlord piece?

I e-mailed Jason Adams right away. This was Neal's first design. He started it without complete instructions. Of course, once Marilyn saw this, she told Neal that my request was different.

Had to have this in my collection! Won't forget Neal's kindness and knowledge of the comic book industry and it's creators! Great conversation!

Really cool to see Neal Adams' raw sketching! He had a whole hardcover sketchbook just based on them and he explains how the raw sketches will lose something when inked and polished up.
