Description

From 1991 comes the book Wolverine Son of Canada sponsored in part by Doritos. Sales must have been poor for Doritos chips in Canada,as this was a giveaway Special Canadian Edition one shot book.Each book was numbered individually as my copy is #5944 out of 65000.A great cover by none other than Ron Lim who does a pretty cool version of Wolverine IMHO.

Very cool crossover marketing comic art! It's in the vein of the Hostess ads and a national campaign printed in those numbers was bigger than many books' regular print runs. Lim brings appeal to the Canuckleheads with him leading Marvel's most popular!

Ooh baby, this is right up my alley! Great characters and an even better background! I certainly don't have any proven data figures handy, but I can say just from knowing what types of chip products I and everyone I've ever known have eaten, that Doritos have always been very popular in Canada. So I think that producing this comic for a giveaway was simply a way for their company's marketing department to make even more sales, seeing as how strong the comic book industry was at the time, only 2 years after the massive success of the Batman film. Comics were really in vogue, so why not use them to help promote your product that in all likelyhood, a large portion of comic book readers were eating anyway? Kudos, Michael!
