Continuing to explore the far corners of the DCU.

Mark Shaw Manhunter not to be confused with Paul Kirk Manhunter.

In 1988 Millennium was the crossover event that ran through various titles of DC Comics. The robot Manhunters were the big bads in the crossover.

Coming out of that storyline was the 1988 Manhunter series starring Mark Shaw. Feeling the robotic Manhunters ruined his name Mark Shaw donned a new costume to distance himself from the Manhunter cult and had his own adventures. It only lasted 2 years but I thought it was good. Come on, it was written by John Ostrander, it was guaranteed to be good. I don't think I've ever read a bad John Ostrander book.

Art was by Doug Rice. Other than this series and Dynamo Joe (thanks to Andrew Allen) he didn't seem to do much comics. There are only 75 pieces listed on CAF. He was a good artist. Look at this splash Manhunter #14 pg 1 in Lee Dunch's Gallery. I would love to have that splash! I do have a cover from this series here Manhunter #8.

This is a nice little sketch I picked up online somewhere years ago, before I bought the cover. With Andrew Allen posting Dynamo Joe art by Doug Rice I thought it was time to post this one. Now there are 76 Doug Rice pieces on CAF.

Very cool complete finished sketch of Manhunter. Not at all like those loose Simonson Manhunter sketches.

Love this. Not at all surprised that it's in your fantastic collection.

Rice Manhunter is so tough to find. This piece is a gem.
