Description

First issues carry the tough job of entertaining us while simultaneously setting up what�s to come, and here we see Dan Slott put his vision for the series into motion as Holden Holliway offers Jen a job at GLK&H.

The only catch is he wants Jen, not She-Hulk. I always loved that premise, so it feels great to add the page that established it to the collection.

Beyond that, though, this one�s a fitting example of how this book was a little different than your usual superhero comic. There�s very little action in most of the issues and Juan�s pages usually clocked in at around six panels per page.

So, the success of the book rested squarely on Slott�s great characterization and Bobillo�s ability to bring those characters to life with facial expressions and body language. And the older I get, the more I prefer that low-key approach. I�ve seen countless battles in the pages of my superhero comics. But courtroom battles filled with love and irreverence for the genre that also make me laugh? That, my friends, is something we don�t see enough of.
