Description2 boards (12 x 18 each)I was just totally blown away when this book came out. I had been a big fan of Ian Bertram already but this book took my fanhood to stratospheric levels. As a result, since then I've tried to hoover up as much art from Ian, and Little Bird as I could. Issue 2 of LB was sold by a French gallery (can't remember which Martel or Glenat). As a result, I wasn't able to pick up pages at the time as I wasn't on the mailing list. They went quickly and later on I was able to pick up this 2 page sequence. I'm presenting it as a 2-page spread as it shows the symmetry and contrast. The bottom half of p. 27 is spotted black in the book but love the way it looks contrasted against the top of p. 28 here in the OA. This scene is the 2nd death of Little Bird as she's captured by robots of the Empire. In the abstract sequence, she's being painfully tortured and executed. To me an artistically brilliant page that showcases Ian's unique vision and skill along with examples of his wonderful linework and figurative beauty. Glad to be able to own at least a couple of pages from every issue of this amazing work. Social/Sharing |

Bertram's art tells the story in such an indie and innovative visual manner. You can split these into quadrants and feel the inks and illustrative lines flow into the page.

Memorable sequence from a landmark book. Seeing it as a CAF thumbnail before enlarging it really emphasizes the strong design choices Bertram made across the two pages, but I love seeing the details when I zoom in

Nice abstract imagery! I love how he drew the legs across the bottom three panels of page 28!

Art from this book was absolutely beautiful. I unfortunately discovered it too late - congrats!
