Description

Here's a pick-up from Summer Con 2024, that I'm just finally getting around to posting. Whenever you create something that is popular, or becomes a hit, parodies are almost inevitable. And that's exactly what we get with this piece right here.

Created by artist Jason Martin, Vampblade takes concepts from both Witchblade and Vampirella, combines them into something unique, yet also something completely familiar. And that is the true essence of a good parody.

Of course, my good friend and artist, Jason Metcalf, does his always amazingly detailed job on this cover image. His crosshatching gives such shades of Jim Lee and Marc Silvestri, that you might even make the mistake of thinking it was done by one of them. I love the details he added to the giant moon in the background, so you know it is the moon (no 3-D modeling textures here, it's all art, which is how it should be).

As everyone knows, this time of year is my favorite. And a cover image of a horror/mystical parody character would fit right in with the season. As well as fit in perfectly with my personal comic art collection.
