DescriptionThis one is sooo much fun and for multiple reasons . First off Josh Cassara is one of my favorite modern comic artists . Just love his style so much… total throw back with his 90s influence and full backgrounds.. but also the fact that he pencils and inks himself traditionally and adds washes all over . He has told me he draws the art to stand on its own without colors or enhancements and it makes his OA so great to collect.Then of course X-men is my favorite team and Wolverine is up there in the pantheon of the characters… so having Josh recreate a classic scene from the Dark Phoenix run in the current is just amazing! A nostalgic pull on a modern comic.. right up my alley! But the best part for me is a little back story . Josh and I have become friends .. so when he was at NYCC last year I of course went to see him. Prior to that while chatting he mentioned he had never read the complete Dark Phoenix saga before .. only pieces here or there. So before the con I grabbed a copy of the trade for him. He was stoked to get it and read it right away… and as these things happen.. this scene showed up in a script for this issue right after reading the Byrne story! Timing was perfect… the piece is inspired and he was so excited to tell me he got to draw it! Thankfully he let me buy the page lol.. Social/Sharing |

Wolverine in the sewers has a more sinister intent (with a smile) than Pennywise.

Fun page, but I want to see the blood and guts from the next page as Wolverine lets loose with limbs and organs...

Josh is great, fantastic interior page and fitting homage/tribute. Glad you were able to help inform his X-Men knowledge with that trade paperback and he returned the favor with letting you get this page - full circle, great story!
