Description

Sticking to the Black Condor.

In 1992 Rags Morales co-created and penciled a revised Black Condor series for DC comics. I really liked the Black Condor series unfortunately the series only lasted 12 issues. He appeared in Justice League for a bit but that was about it.

Fellow CAFer Greg McKee has a great collection of Black Condor art. I've always been envious of his pages.

For a title that didn't sell well, pages don't come up for sale. Then in 2020, a fellow on eBay was putting up early Rags Morales art for sale. It included unpublished and published pieces and Black Condor art. Jackpot!

The second of two title splashes I bought. The first was Black Condor #12 pg. 1. Glad to finally have some Black Condor art and for them to be two great title splashes is icing on the cake.

I really dig the Morales art on this page. I love the choices Morales made to draw Black Condor long, lean and muscular (like a swimmer) perfect for a flying character.

Pretty inspired work! I think Rags wanted to challenge himself to do a piece that was more realistic and would fit in any title! Very difficult angle to work with with so many characters that had to stay in the same line of perspective!

All the hospital employees for ma frame around Black Condor figure and bring your attention to him, but did you notice that Rags also rendered his figure far more than all the others? Very cool!
