DescriptionThis was originally part of a 6 character piece (also including Iron Man, Black Knight, Ulik, Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange) done by Jack Kirby for Marvelmania, the short-lived Marvel fan club than ran from 1969-71.When the 6 figure piece sold on Heritage Auctions in February 2012, it was estimated to have been produced in the first part of 1968. The Iron Man and Doctor Doom images were used as border images on the back cover of the 1969 Marvelmania Club Catalog, while Rhino had been killed off in Hulk #104 (June 1968). The larger piece appears to have been separated into 6 individual pieces soon after, as they were listed separately on Romitaman in November 2012. I purchased it on eBay in July 2024. Pretty famously caused a debate if the pieces should have been separated to sell for more individually or if it should have been kept intact. With the Romitaman provenance you can be sure it's authentic.

This is beautiful. And while I personally think that they should stay intact, glad it's in a collectors hand that loves it.

For selfish reasons, I'm glad that they were separated. But I'm also glad that I wasn't responsible for making the original call!
