DescriptionMy Neighbor Totoro Mei Production Cel Setup with Production Background (Studio Ghibli, 1988). "To-to-ro? You're Totoro!" Perched atop the giant Forest Spirit's fluffy belly, this magnificent original production cel setup features the young and imaginative Mei from Hayao Miyazaki's landmark masterpiece My Neighbor Totoro. This iconic moment of the beloved film can be spotted near the 34:25 timestamp after Mei follows Chibi and Chu Totoro into the forest to the enormous camphor tree where she meets the largest Totoro for the first time. Featuring in an astonishingly frame-filling closeup yet also nearly full-figure, Mei has been hand-painted to 10.25" x 7.5" on the 13.75" x 9" multilayer cel which also features tufts of Totoro's belly fur around her hands and legs, and is numbered A32-35 in the top right. The setup is paired with a hand-painted production background, possibly from the film, which has been rendered in gouache on board trimmed to an overall size of 14.25" x 10"Social/Sharing |

This is anime that is beloved by generations and for future generations to come! Mei is the one character we can all identify with as we see all the wonder and sadness through her lens.
