Description24x30Acrylic on Wood . . . Eternal spiral, is the first and also a series of major museum exhibition in my home town of artist James Jean. The exhibition features more than 200 works spanning more than 20 years in James Jean¡¯s career, including painting, sculptures, sketches and prints, all gives us a chance to experience the depths of Jean¡¯s seemingly unlimited imagination. Eternal Spiral also allows audiences to closely approach the workshop of this dream weaver whose sources span from anime and comics to Dutch Renaissance painting and silk scroll paintings. I am glad I did not leave empty-handed and was able to purchase this wonderful painting from the exhibitor. The expression of this artwork seems to take me back to the good old days when James was still the cover artist for Fable. As he experiments with different styles and art historical genres, diminishes the boundary between new and old, and between Eastern and Western artmaking. A happy day for me :) Social/Sharing |

Great 70's taffy styled guitar design over the art nouveau feel of the natural watercolors! Jean's work speaks to the audience on another level as music, lyrics, and visual arts can work so well in harmony.

Wow, you walked into a museum and walked out with a James Jean piece. That's pretty impressive. This piece does remind me of his work on Fables (especially in the face), but it has some elements from his more recent work as well (namely the guitar and its "structure"). Congrats on getting this!

Thanks Kin. I was surprised there were pieces available and was able to get a "relatively" comfortable size for my wall space as many of pieces were meters tall haha. And yes the color tone and the way he demonstrated the figure are so "fable" in my opinion, blend in nicely with his evolving art language.
