Description

Nyoka the Jungle Girl originated in a 1941 film serial and quickly entered comic books.

In the West Indies, Sapper the plantation owner exploits his sugar cane workers by hypnotizing them to work for long hours. Nyoka catches the evidence with her camera. He sees her, and a chase ensues�

I doubt that guy in the third panel is supposed to look like Clark Kent, but he does. The bottom half has been cut out of the first word balloon on page 3 for some reason; see the additional images for the full text.

On page 2, marginal notations read "Fix Sweet figure and left arm" and "Fix Ny face" and something about "arm short" for panels 3 and 4. On page 3, a pencil comment in the top margin notes that the hypnotized workers in the second panel should be standing stiffly.

Look at those gams on Nyoka! Hmmm, a guy who wants people to work for no wages on his west indies sugar cane plantation looking like a southern Colonel, I guess hypnotism is a stand in for using a whip. "Master" Comics indeed.
