DescriptionA year or so back I regrettably sold a sweet Pollard/Day Thor page in order to build up enough cash to get a Tim Sale page. Tim just passed away and I always wanted a nice example and I never got around to snagging one so I was anxious. I did manage to grab a great Hulk Grey piece but I was left with a Pollard-size hole in my heart.Fast forward to a few months ago, I was able to get a notification (thanks CAF) that a Pollard page became available. I worked out a deal and not only did I get a great example but I was able to get one with Thor flying over the Chicago Skyline (Sears Tower, John Hancock Building, Chicago Water Tower, The Alley where Lincoln was shot....etc), a city that I have lived for the last 30 plus years. Man, I love Chicago. The page is also from a favorite story of mine "The Zaniac Craves Blood!", anyone? anyone? and the real kicker is that it has a nice transformation sequence which is always cool for any collector. So what I'm trying to say is, sometimes things work out. Social/Sharing |

Great page! Thor traverses a cityscape just as good as Spider-Man!

I'm glad that you were able to fiill your Pollard-hole. Also, Don Blake is looking dapper in his Bowler hat.

That third panel is awesome! You can feel the people below looking up and admiring Thor's greatness as he flies through the canyon of skyscrapers!

It's technically a reverse transformation, but who's keeping track!? Steve, congrats on landing this page. I always say that things eventually work out in our favour as collectors if we're patient enough. This could not have been a better Pollard page. I mean come on, flying through the city in 3 spectacular panels, especially the 3rd one, and the city happens to be where you live?!? Great page in the perfect collection!

I like a lot pages whit skyscrapers or skylines or big cities as backgrounds. This one is exceptional! Difficult to find one better than that superb first panel. Taking into account your story it is very difficult to insgine s better place for this page than your home. Enjoy and curate it!

Pollard is so underrated. Maybe because his style is very similar to Big John. Or maybe because he never landed a major storyline. Anyway, this page is amazing, every panel is so well constructed.

Awesome example from Pollard, starting with the initial soaring splashy shot! And you can't beat a transformation page! Interestingly, I got a Pollard Thor page that is basically the flip of this one - a transformation to Thor capped by a flying shot :) Great minds ;) Congrats, man!

Great Chicago page from 1980! Could only be topped by a Blues Brithers appearance.
