DescriptionPSYLOCKE VS REVANCHE BAR FIGHT IN THE GREEN LAGOON—SDCC ‘24 Commission by Joshua Cassara Easy to say my favorite current Marvel artist, Josh Cassara, knocked this bar fight commission out of the ballpark. Each year we have such a great time talking with him and his wife, Martha. This past year (2024) we decided to do a formal SDCC pre-order commission from him, thank you André for the encouragement, this piece of splashy art came out perfectly and he captures everything we wanted in this bar brawl. Our prompt was simple (ha!): Psylocke - Elizabeth Braddock in the Asian body, vs Revanche - Kwannon in the English body. The history and body swapping of these two amazing characters gets really complicated but I wanted a professional X-Men artist to do his two own version of them in the Krakoan era monument he created, the Green Lagoon. And if we are there, why make it an bar fight. So many extra characters and fun hidden gems are present. He added the much needed Fred Dukes (Blob), who is the Lagoon’s bartender, Toad, Gambit vs Shaw, Shadowcat vs Spiral. So many fun characters all in great action poses, especially Psylocke and Revanche front and center. He added a lot of great tiki bar details we love from the Green Lagoon, like a broken punch bowl, and 4 - X-Tiki mugs (Deadpool, Apocalypse, Sentinel and Xavier). But the coolest part is he added a hidden extra that tops it all, carved into the bar in Krakoan is J + E (for James and Ethan). Thank you so very much for your detailed work and something we will always cherish, Josh. Social/Sharing |

Love the composition here. And strangely enough, even though all the action is taking place at the bottom of the piece, I have to say that I love the decor at the top. Not sure what those spheres are, maybe some sort of lantern? Anyway, for whatever reason my eyes were drawn to them. Great piece with lots of great action and energy.

Think those are glass fishing floats.

This is amazing and I was gonna comment something like "the bar I frequent has less Psylocke and more Toad" but now all I can think about is poor Soidey.

When you introduce a bar into the storyline and it becomes a popular setting, bar fights are bound to happen! Toad is loving the view from below!

Yeah the 2 Psylockes plot is pure 90s mess but this is indeed a fun idea well executed.

Cassara can do no wrong...including a bar fight, baby! Awesome pure illustration and the upward perspective was the right choice. Gotta love how Toad's just having a ball takin' it in :) Congrats!
