DescriptionJust wanted to give an update on crazy prices for George Wilson Art lately. Last 6 pieces collectively over $320,000.00! With Space Family Robinson #1, going for $84,000.00, King Kong going for over $40,000.00, and as you can see, Magnus #1, going for $168,000.00. I believe the last Frazetta went for a little over $250K. And these were all pieces that have been floating around over the last decade. I've only seen one true, nearly pristine Wilson come up for auction in the last 2 and 1/2 years(small fading in foreground, but as painting is red/orange is mostly resistant to fading), that I've never seen before. And I would point out that most of these had fade/sunstrike/sunburn problems!I recommend a purchase of any of Mr. Wilson's paintings you can find that are pristine(no fading), and clearly show work done by him, for any amount under $5k. With the new book coming out on his art in the next month, his notoriety will only increase. So happy to see Mr. Wilson finally recognized for this gigantic talent! Social/Sharing |
