Description

This is the John Severin art to page 6 of the story "Bop Jokes!" that appeared in Mad #9 (EC 1954). Harvey Kurtzman was the writer/editor. This self-contained joke lampooned the hipster jargon of the Beat Generation.

MAD subversively shaped the tastes for clever satire for generations with irreverent humor. This is an early piece of pop culture and counter culture and it comes with two all time master illustrator/storytellers. Very cool how they slow play and stretch the story.
