Reading The Many Deaths Of Laila Starr was like love at first sight! I first stumbled upon the book at Barnes & Noble, and while holding the book in my hands, the Barnes & Noble store clerk saw me with it and told me that this book is a beautiful book with a beautiful story and beautiful artwork. I flipped open the book, I was instantly in love.

Having encountered many deaths of loved ones, and attending many funerals, and nearly encountering, death myself, this book really speaks to my heart.

Issue 2 of this book was my favorite issue.

I felt I needed to get another page to compliment Issue 2, pg 5 to build a sequence. I felt that this page was a key page that complimented the sequence.

In the 2nd to last panel, you see Darius on the beach, trying to remember his friend who recently passed away.

“I WON’T… I WON’T FORGET HIM!” were the words uttered by young Darius.

I also like that there is a half clipping of Laila accompanying Darius as he makes peace with death.

Such beautiful storytelling.
