DescriptionIn my dive into the Matt Wagner Universe, I read one of my favorite Grendel stories, but who knew it would also be one of my favorite Batman books as well! I love this story from beginning to end. Although this page does not have the titular characters in costume it does have the 4 main characters and the difference between Hunter Rose and Bruce Wayne's charisma is just so fun.Social/Sharing |

Congratulations on a very cool page from a truly epic series! It's incredible how Matt Wagner included SO much dialogue on the page, but he masterfully allowed plenty of room for his amazing artwork to shine!

A beautiful page from one of my very favorite comic books, period. In my eyes, one of the key elements to the book's success was its incredibly strong sense of design: one of Matt's underrated uber-strengths. From the four different lettering styles (one for each of the main characters) to the beautiful panel design and flow of the pages (much of it centering around the wonderful notion that Hunter and Bruce are equal and opposite reflections of each other), it felt like a concentrated look inside the head of Matt Wagner. This was the very first crossover between an Indy character and an A-list corporate icon like Batman, right? I was always surprised by just how much they let Matt get away with, and how much of a distinctive auteur's voice they allowed the project to have. Bringing it all back to this lovely page, it stands as a great example of a bit of everything I just wrote. Super work by Matt, and having any page from this project is a cool score: they're all killers, no fillers! Congrats, Victor!
