DescriptionSpeed Comics #27 (Harvey July 1943) featuring Shock Gibson in "The Greatest Siege Gun Ever Built." This is the title splash to the story. In this story, Shock flies to Germany, beats up Hitler but leaves him there as others are coming to get him in time. Art is by Sam Glanzman.Apparently, it was a great story as it was reprinted in Super-Dooper Comics #7 (Able Publishing 1946). As if that wasn't enough, it was then published as the COVER to Latest Comics #3 (Superior circa 1946) though the story itself was not in the actual issue. Anyone have a copy of this comic. Wow! What a gorgeous title splash to Shock Gibson by Sam Glanznan! I love the look of this splash. Gibson is handsomely drawn--Do I detect the influence of Alex Raymond in his look? He has a similar body type and strikes a familiar pose to Flash Gordon. The giant siege gun behind him is pretty cool and has a decidedly deadly appearance that would worry any allied aircraft pilot. As good as the drawing is, the inks are even better. I see some more similarities to Alex Raymond in the inks as well, notably in the feathering of the clouds. Nevertheless, fantastic pick-up, congrats!
