Moving on with the Class of 2025 X-Men Cover Recreations, we've got Jasper Jubenvill putting his spin on Jack Kirby's cover to X-Men #14, the first appearance of the Sentinels.

Jubenvill is a (very) young cartoonist, best known for his self-published indie comic, Dynamite Diva, his style being highly influenced by Chester Gould's Dick Tracy.

When he randomly opened up a very limited commission list, because he was in the mood for it or something, I sent him a paypal immediately, asked if he'd be open to cover recreations, and told him we'd figure it out later. He confidently requested commissioners to throw down the gauntlet and challenge him.

I sent him a few choices, including X-Men #14, kind of hoping this would be his decision. He ended up being very excited to take on Kirby, as he hasn't had many chances to do so.

Unsurprisingly, the young cartoonist obsessed with the comics medium delivered a wonderful rendition of this cover in his personalized style. That Sentinel is just awesome.

This particular choice for a cover recreation is a bit off of my usual track for this project. Most of my list is based on comics I read after my first, Uncanny X-Men #183.

What's special about this choice is that, as a young reader, my Grandmother sent me some birthday money, which I took down to Jim Hanley's Universe, looked up on the back wall for the neatest X-Men cover I could find within my budget, and bought it. Thus, this issue always having a special spot in my heart.

Thrilled to have Jasper in my collection, as I think we'll be hearing from him for years to come.

Nice and freaky X-Men! They are truly the outcasts they were meant to be in this Jubenvill indie look. I like that Jack Kirby is in the cover too!

Love it Dan! One of my fave comics and covers ever and Jasper's rendition has got them Kirby vibes but his own unique use of shadows/inks. Congrats!
