Description

"The Dating Game", a 6-page story from Archie 200, from June 1970. This is a fun story starring Archie and Jughead, in which Archie comes up with a money-making scheme to get girls from an all-girls school to date members of the Riverdale basketball team. Things don't work out that well however as the basketball team's girlfriends are left without dates. Lucey shows off his skills, fitting so many characters into a single story. He was great at drawing crown scenes.

haha very entertaining story, illustrated exceptionally by Lucey as always, from a milestone Archie issue. plenty to love here, nice Bob!

Funny upbeat story from Harry Lucey and the Archie Team. I love how Lucey finds al these different ways to keep the story visually interesting even though not very much is going on. Basically, it's like a Friends-type sitcom. He keeps changing the POV with every panel and refreshing the backgrounds every page or so. Mostly he alternates between closeups and medium shots with only an occasional wide shot thrown in to break things up. Lucey is technically very good at this and uses a lot of heightened emotions to create drama. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!

When also Taken into account his prodigious output (I don't know how many stories he produced every month, most times it was almost certainly several titles) and his longevity (1940s through 1970s) he really is an artist to be admired.
