DescriptionMany years ago, Roger Hill wrote in the pages of the CFA-APA about his visit to meet Pete Morisi. In addition to being a New York City Police officer, Morisi moonlighted as a comic artist. He did a lot of work for Charlton Comics perhaps being best known as the artist/creator of Thunderbolt. In that article, he showed a great page by Reed Crandall that I lusted over. Roger declined every offer I made for the page... and then it appeared at auction.This page is from Military Comics 21 (cover date Aug 1943) and has everything you might want on it... several Blackhawks, Grumman Skyrockets in formation, strafing German soldiers, a pretty girl, and fistfights. I lived on Staten Island the same time as Morisi. I don't remember if he contacted me about the art he had, but virtually every piece was stunning!

I saw this one and bid - I am not a big GA art collector but this page is super - glad I wasn't the underbidder!
