Description

A beautiful (IMHO) example of the Jungle Jim strip by Alex Raymond. This was often called a "topper" because it sat on top of Alex's other strip Flash Gordon. Jungle Jim began January 7, 1934 debuting with Flash Gordon.

I was lucky enough to grab this piece with the matching Flash Gordon.

Raymond's use of inks to convey light, shadow and tone are evident here. The facial expressiveness he was able to evoke in his strips is unmatched today.

Romantic nighttime cruise! The faces are great as are the formal wear. Pretty cool that the stamps are also artwork. Christmas Eve while the rest of the world was in turmoil, showing us that there can still be beautiful things in the world.
