Description

In honor of my friends in the great white north and Chris Snorek.. I decided to post this Alpha Flight page by the great Mile Mignola! Alpha Flight was born in the X-men titles and therefore a comic I read for most of the entire first run. So the characters are near and dear to the heart.. and since I have been looking for a marvel example of Mignola’s work this seamed like a perfect opportunity! Great page showing most of the team in action- Northstar Aurora Puck Box and even Heather right before she got her suit. Obviously Mignola’s style is much different from what we are used to now.. but I always look at his alpha flight run as when he started to take some more chances and began to evolve . Love the puck and box panels especially. Also this is from the first appearance of Scramble.. if you don’t know how that is … hit the google and read up on the twisted character!

This post is tailor made for people who keep telling us that 80's Mignola is his most artiistically impressive period! Marvel was looking for new voices in the 80's and Mignola had a unique flair for fantasy and adventure.

All the Mignola-isms are there, just less refined. Nice page, I love it.

My brain is so scrambled that I cannot remember who Scramble is, even though I read the comic when it came out and still have a copy..somewhere, in the attic of the lost. I love Mikes earlier style.
