Description

My appreciation for Frank Robbins grew over the years. It wasn't that easy in the beginning. I first saw that raw and heavy black art shatter the Kaluta Shadow and then it was Batman. His Invaders series was palatable. As the years passed his style grew on me.

I am happy to pick a nice example of Johnny Hazard. The use of the heavy blacks lends to the action, the planes, and the characters. This has a nice bit of action in it as well.

He's appreciated by a lot of animators because his outlines are boldly expressive and the look is so unconventional for them to parse apart.
