Jim Calafiore and Peter Palmiotti

I was a huge fan of Peter David's Aquaman run back in the late 90s. Many issues and covers were penciled by Jim Calafiore. This particular page stuck with me over the years. When it surfaced at auction, I jumped at it. I may have been the only bidder.

Anyway, at the time, I had no idea who or what Millennium Giants were. Jim did a great job depicting one of these massive things. In this story, it walked over everything, wrecking havoc on whatever was in it's path. Here, when it threatened sea life, Aquaman put a stop to it. Pretty cool. Electric Superman made an appearance too. I am glad this was created when word balloons and pasteups were part of the original artwork. I'd still like the page without them. But, they make it that much more special on there.

Sweet layout by Calafiore! It makes the fist dominate the page with the heavy inks by Palmiotti! Electric Superman was such a short but bright burst of creativity for a few months and pages with him are kind of rare.
