i like the unique color pallette they chose for this Jean Grey illustration, the tones for the watercolor for her hair and costume seperated by the negative space for her skin tone play well off each other

The inking for the pose drips with emotion! The Phoenix is like a fiery outside force coming from the outside through her hair into her mind.

Stunning illustration of Jean Grey/Phoenix by Chuma Hill. I love the soft color palette Chuma used here--The lighter colors soften her look and let the feminine side show more. I also love the way Chuma painted her hair--one can almost see her power radiating out from her, like flames from a fire. The simple ink lines that Chuma used gives her a different look. She seems more ethereal, more like she's not fully here, she's somewhere else. And when I think about it, that was true of Jean when she possessed the Phoenix power--She was always somewhere else, somewhere out in the galaxy, even when she with the team. Splendid ink and watercolor illustration!
