Description

Should we talk of child labor when children are exploited to portray adulthood?

In comics children, poor things, are never free to be themselves: grown-ups weigh them down with burdens which only belong to them, called allegories: Peanuts are wise old men in tiny bodies, Mafalda is a six-year-old revolutionary.
Fortunately, there are at least two exceptions, two masterpieces that speak of childhood as it really is.
One of these is Ernie Bushmiller's Nancy: a strip filed with a soft, lysergic atmosphere, imbued
with a particular melancholy that smells of caducity.

Here in a mastepiece from my collection.
