Continuing to post more art from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.

From the Shawn McManus April 2024 art drop, comes everyone's favorite elastic hero Plastic Man.

I've never read a Plastic Man comic. Not one. My fondness of Plastic Man comes from the Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show from 1979. Loved that show with Penny (his wife), Hula Hula and Baby Plas. It wasn't until Grant Morrison's run on Justice League that I read a comic with Plastic Man (not true I read his Secret Origins story).

Great rendition of Plastic Man by McManus. Big fan of Shawn's work and I think he captures the fun that is Plastic Man and his wacky world. He even included Woozy Winks, a damsel in distress and a couple of goons. Awesome!

I've included Shawn's colored version of Plastic Man. Done digitally.

Looks amazing with the retro golden age cartooning! McManus made this look like a madcap caper movie poster from the 1940's!

I've never read a Plastic Man comic either, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy some nice looking Plastic Man art, which this is. McManus' cartoony style is perfect for the subject matter, plus his realistic rendering also bring a bit of realism to the proceedings!

Plastic Man is such a great character. It's a shame he doesn't get more air time. This is a great piece.

If McManus ever wanted to do a Plastic Man series set in the 1940s, I hope that DC would give it to him. He clearly has the talent to pull it off.
