Description

Liza! One of my very favourite movies and definitely my favourite movie musical. This was Dani's 2023 NYCC commission list from memory. This piece got caught up in the Cadence fraud and collapse but Dani generously still completed her outstanding list and a friend collected this at Heroes 2024 (thank you!). I might be biased but I think this is one the best Dani pieces I've seen. I wasn't sure if she'd seen the movie so I just said to look up 'Mein Herr' from Cabaret for references over a couple of minutes.

Liza's performance of a lifetime that won her the academy award. Reflected her own beginnings as a nightclub singer. Dani uses the Broadway playbill graphic design with tears and laughter of the theater. Just like Cadence, the Caberet shuts down, but there is certainly more sentimental tears for one more than the other.

Wow! I've always enjoyed Dani's work, but this subject matter is an ideal fit for her and is at a whole new level!
