From Motor City Comic Con (May 2004).

Back in 2004, Silver Age artist Dick Ayers was setup at MCCC. I debated on getting a sketch and eventually decided on a character. I gave Dick a comic for reference and then spent the rest of the day walking the floor. At the end of the night, I stopped by to get the commissioned piece. He slid the finished piece across the table. My favorite superhero of all time�..Nightwin�.wait a minute�Nightwind!? Apparently, the last letter of the stylized comic book title looked more like a �D� than a �G�. Anyway, my friends and I got a kick out of the piece. There is a little charm to it.

The guy was 80's years old and basically already retired for 10 years. If he didn't have a rep to guide him, I don't think he was reading Scott McDaniel's run to know who Nightwing was.
