Every once in a while I take a flyer on something that interests me. I was a fan of the Heroes in Hell fantasy novel anthology series in the 1980’s and was always struck by their cool book covers. So when a painted cover to one of the books showed up at Auction, I decided to bid on it as a lark. I was lucky enough to win it, and got this cool oversized (28” X 23”) painting by David Mattingly. It even came with a sample printed copy of the book cover. Now I just wish I still had the book. (LOL!).

This painting does a good job of giving you the vibe of the series, which depicts a group of heroes, villains, kings, conquerors and politicians from all eras of the Earth gathered in Hell, in competition and trying to make the best of an infernally bad situation.
