With DC making such a big change to their iconic characters, they relied on Lee's vision and popularity with the fans to propel their most famous hero back to the top of the charts.Lee and his go-to inker of over 20 years, Scott Williams, present a powerful image of the new Superman in the middle of battle, surrounded by robots that call back to Max Fleischer's Mechanical Robots from the 1941 cartoon -- some that have already been damaged/destroyed by the Kryptonian, others silhouetted in the background awaiting their turn to be added to the junk heap.
