DescriptionThis Reginald drawing is by a MGM animator for the Tex Avery cartoon Out-Foxed starring Droopy. The short begins at Ye Hunt Club where the kennel master sends out his hounds with the promise of a big, juicy steak for everyone who brings back a fox. The pack rushes out while Droopy says: “You know what? Haste makes waste.” We see Reginald sipping tea in his den when the first dog jumps him. After a whirlwind fight, the fox has captured the dog in the sack and knocks him out. Droopy knocks on the door and politely asks Reginald to climb in his sack. The fox takes the sack inside and gives Droopy the other sack. This drawing shows the moment when Reginald is switching sacks behind the closed door. This is a hilarious cartoon. Just by the posture, the way his arm is positioned, and monocle, we got a fancy and snooty character that these cartoons will usually turn against to humble them back to their natural status.
