DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!9-5/8x12.5" artboard features pen and ink original art for one-page cartoon titled "Cartoon On Bette Page" (spelling was corrected to "Cartoon On Bettie Page" for publication), published in Betty Page Private Peeks in 1978. Art is by Eric Stanton (1926-1999), an Underground cartoonist and fetish art pioneer, whose cartoons are referred to as "Stantoons." This "Stantoon" shows scantily clad pin-up queen Bettie Page removing her trademark raven tresses in favor of a redheaded update. Final panel shows modeling agency executive handing her a black Bettie Page wig, telling her "I'm Going To Make You Into The New Pin-Up Queen… I’ll Call You Better Page!" Of note, this was one of the first cartoons to mention Page by name as a character, marking the beginning of Page’s resurgence in popularity during the late 1970s and into the 1980s and beyond.
