It really does! I like the colors more than the finished one myself.

A haunting oainting with the gothic elements in place. The purple hues and shades dones so well here should definitely stay in the final painting.

I agree with you. I have a feeling why he scrapped it might have to do with scaling issues between the girl and the boat, which might fit a toddler but not a grown woman! The final cover he painted the girl in much smaller, but I think it's a less effective composition than this one.
