Description:
This is the original published ink illustration by Albert Neutzell used on the title page of the 1969 Powell edition of Out of the Unknown by A. E. van Vogt and E. Mayne Hull. The stark black-and-white drawing features a gothic cliffside castle rendered in Neutzell�s expressive mid-century style. Identified by cropping guides and printer�s markings, this piece was printed in reduced form in the published book. Its mood and jagged linework reflect the pulp-horror fusion popular in the late 1960s.
Provenance: From the estate of A. E. van Vogt (unverified but claimed in prior listing); verso includes notations likely made by the artist or printer.
