DescriptionRight time and right place really paid off this year at SDCC (2025). I was urged to go to the artist area early on in my Comic Con experience. Usually I tend to chase “Exclusive!” comics on preview night and 1st day (Thursday) to get the long lines of purchasing done so I can enjoy panels and walking the floor and looking at art for the remaining time at con. But this year, we decided that there are far too many “Exclusive!” books put out each year and getting tired of the random or virgin or B+W sketch variant being the SDCC exclusive. Don’t get me wrong, some are really great but there are now too many and I decided to stop chasing the majority of those books and to start putting that money towards more art. After two or 3 hours of chasing some comics we walked towards Jiggy’s team at Next Comic Art to meet some of the team and see what they might have. Right away, I saw that Harvey Tolibao was there and expressed to him how much I loved the Phalanx Psylocke that he did for me, I know it was a random ask for the Mystery Sketch but was something unique I wanted to see (his art is posted in my collection). It worked in the sense that it was unique and he remembered this piece well considering all the Psylockes he does. I got to express my love for his work and for the great job he did on the original Psylocke series (early 2010). He then let me know that he had some pages of that series with him. I immediately jumped at wanting to know more. His wife, Julime, helped us to get a look at the available art that he still had and connected us the next day to make a deal with he and Jiggy. I had no idea that I would get so lucky to find pieces from this series and that he still had pages with him for all the various work he does. We had a great time talking to him about his art and process, meeting him, Jiggy, Julime and Manix really made this years Comic Con Uncanny, Fantastic, Incredible and Spectacular. This page has Harvey Tolibao’s incredible detailed pencils teamed up with Paul Neary’s great inks. It showcases some fun story points where we see Revanche’s body in upper left panel with Psylocke confirming the body and some banter between her, Dazzler and Emma Frost (in diamond form). Then some great panels of Psylocke in her Asian body reflecting on seeing her English body, reminiscing of her childhood growing up as a young English girl (memories from a different body, that is now on a cold slab). It’s a great piece that makes up the puzzle that is Psylocke. This era of Psylocke being Betsy Braddock’s mind in Kwannon’s Asian body reflecting on Kwannon’s dead psyche in her old English body, known as Revanche. This was Harvey’s last Psylocke page featuring Psylocke in Asian body, he only got a few from the series and so thrilled to get it directly from him. The page got some water damage years ago during transport but still stands out as a beautiful piece that I am very happy to add to my collection, especially to my Psylocke focused art collection. Getting a Psylocke page with Psylocke featured on her first titular series from a #1 issue is perfect for what I love to collect. Thanks Harvey and team for making this SDCC great. Social/Sharing |

So crazy that Tolibao would still be carrying around 15 year old pages like this in his convention portfolio, but it's so much fun to discover this as a collector when it does happen! The pencils are lovely, with a modern Filipino look, which I've long been a fan of, and Neary stayed true to those pencils and gave them a nice, slick appearance. Congrats!

Thrilled to have connected with you, Manix and Harvey. Harvey's work is some of my favorite and still X-cited to have had these interactions with him and to actually have published Psylocke art of his. Crazy that he still had pages left and the timing was perfect for me to get some of it directly from him. Cheers!
