Original published editorial cartoon by Lou Erickson, titled Endangered Species, as it appeared in The Atlanta Journal on October 4, 1972 (Page 18). This pen-and-ink illustration includes the original red-tone production overlay used for print, offering a complete example of the cartoon’s published state.

The piece satirizes the political fight over the “Scenic River Plans” proposal, depicting two squirrels labeled “Shag Cates” and “Charlie Brown” — both serving as Atlanta aldermen — with “Alderman” above their names.
