Nearing the end of the postings from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.

From his work on Batman & the Outsiders to Excalibur, from Detective Comics to JLA: the Nail Alan Davis is one of the best. It was his run on Excalibur that really cemented it for me. The art was fantastic, when I think of Kitty Pryde, Rachel Summers and Nightcrawler it's Davis' versions I picture. Besides his great style Davis also has a gift for visual humor and facial expressions, on par with Kevin Maguire.

�He was a hero to some, a villain to others, and wherever he rode people spoke his name in whispers. He had no friends, this Jonah Hex, but he did have two companions: One was death itself� The other, the acrid smell of gunsmoke��

Jonah Hex by Alan Davis. To say I've wanted a Davis Jonah Hex is an understatement. He is one of those artists that draws everyone exceptionally well. His style fits all genres including western heroes as you can see here. I was lucky enough to get on his commission list in 2023. I saw a months old post by Paul Greer on Facebook about Alan opening his list and figured why not. The worst he could say was he wasn't adding more names. Paul added me to list and I received my Jonah Hex. Love it. Very reminiscent of the Jonah Hex #4 cover by Luis Dominguez

Nice man! Kudos on finally getting one from Davis. This could very well be the first drawing of Hex he has ever done!

Very fine use of his soft pencil style to make Hex a folklore figure of the Old West.
