Description

Tavola originale china su cartoncino pesante, di Naga di Leone Frollo
anno di pubblicazione ottobre 1975 numero 2 pagina 1.

NAGA

NAGA
Published in the late 1970s by Edifumetto, during the golden age of Italian erotic comics, NAGA is one of the most evocative and symbolic works by Roberto Frollo, a visionary author who blended seduction, art, and myth in an unmistakable style.
At a time when Italian newsstands were bursting with licentious magazines and popular imagery, NAGA stands out for its refined solemnity: more lyrical than licentious, more mystical than vulgar.
Set in a dreamlike and ritualistic Orient, the story evokes ancestral female archetypes, tantric iconography, and serpentine sensuality, transforming every page into a visual liturgy.
The panels, imbued with Art Nouveau influences and an almost sacred perversion, establish comics as a cultured art form, far removed from the crude voyeurism of much contemporary production.

At the throbbing heart of popular erotic comics of the 1970s, while Magnus plays with irony and Manara skims the skin, Frollo invokes mystery.
NAGA doesn't just tell the story of desire: he evokes it like a deity, worships it like a serpent, fears it like a spell.
An elegant and visceral work, it marks one of the artistic peaks of Italian erotic comics before its slow decline.
