Description

Frank Hamilton under the pseudoynm G. Rozelton- The Shadow Vol.10 #6 "Gypsy Vengeance" Cover Re-Creation Illustration Original Art (2000). Rozelton's re-creation of the original 1934 cover is highly-detailed with intense stippling. Signed/dated in the lower left of the 7.5" x 8.75" image area on the bright white Illustration board.

This recreation is done in the style that Frank Hamilton made famous in all of the various pulp fanzines throughout the 70's, 80's, & 90's with his stippled illustrations of the Shadow, the Spider, Doc Savage, etc.

George Rozen was the painter that created the image of the Shadow that everyone is familiar with today.

Right to the point!  The horoscope /gypsy themes were so hot during the pulp era of the Shadow.

This looks like it's by Frank Hamilton because it is by Frank Hamilton.  When Frank did his fantastic black and white recreations of Doc and Shadow covers, while he often used his own name, he also on many occasions would combine parts of the original artists name with his own.  Thus Baumhofer + Hamilton became Baumhilton, Gladney + Hamilton became Gladnilton and Rozen + Hamilton became Rozelton.  Nice piece!

I am thrilled to read this Doug, you have made my day.  The back of the art made me think it was Frank Hamilton.  Frank and  in the mid 80s and I was going to pull the letters to compare the handwriting. I have always wanted a Frank Hamilton Shadow.

Great Piece!

am not sure what the confusion was for, as it is definately done by Frank Hamilton, recreating George Rozen's "Gypsy Vengeance" which was on the newsstands in 1934.

I thought it was Frank,  but i was not familiar with the pseudonyms. Thank you for the comment Dwight.
