Description

Two design concept drawings for a Cylon basestar engine hand-drawn by renowned effects illustrator and designer Andrew Probert for Glen A. Larson's "Saga of a Star World," the pilot episode of Battlestar Galactica. The Cylons used massive basestars equipped with sophisticated gravity drive engines and far larger than most human ships as their primary capital ships in the TV movie and throughout the subsequent series. The fearsome vessels and the Cylon Centurions who operated them were largely designed by Probert.

These drawings depicting slightly different designs for the engines of a Cylon basestar were created for the miniature and optical effects unit. They are rendered in mixed media on paper and signed by Probert with one annotated "Engine Detail - Cylon Home Base" in ink. Both exhibit yellowing, crinkling, and small tears along their edges. Dimensions: (each) 17" x 14" (43.25 cm x 35.75 cm)
