3-2025...In my collection a while back I added a Pink Panther cel from the original cartoon series; now I get to include a cel from one of the early movies!

"Have you ever seen a panther that is pink?" The titular breakout star performs a "soft-shoe" routine to Henry Mancini's popular tune and introduces the stars of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Columbia presentation of The Return of the Pink Panther!

Created by the team of Friz Freleng and Hawley Pratt of DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, The Pink Panther embodied the namesake diamond featured in the film and had his debut within the title sequences. The animated character was so popular that he went on to star in a television series and several short films, before appearing in the opening titles of The Return of the Pink Panther (1975).

As DePatie-Freleng was occupied with other televised and theatrical animated productions of The Pink Panther, this introduction was outstandingly animated by Richard Williams. This colorful animation production cel is rendered in ink and paint and features the titular character as he prepares to dynamically gesture toward an illuminated marquee featuring the name of actor Christopher Plummer.

The Pink Panther is boldly presented against a black background composed of "Transparent" gloss black adhesive wrap. Measuring 13.5" x 10.5", this vibrant animation production cel is a wonderful artifact from a bygone era of inked and painted cels and a memorable moment in the history of The Pink Panther!
