Description

Chip and Dale try on a few disguises in this charming preliminary commercial break bumper from one of our favorite Disney Afternoon series Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers! The series was first conceived as a series based on The Rescuers and titled Metro Mice with an Indiana Jones-inspired protagonist. The mouse was replaced with Chip and Dale so that there were established Disney characters to work with, and the rest is history! The series premiered on 3/4/1989 and ran for three total seasons with an impressive 65 episodes. The charming graphite with color pencil preliminary drawing in this lot is rendered on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper in a similar style to Will Finn's early development sketches with great full figure poses for both characters. They take up nearly the entire page at about 12.25'' x 10'' and the page itself is dated 9/9/87 in the lower right with red color pencil going over the characters on the back.
