Description

This is one of those pieces that I will cherish forever because of the circumstances behind it. First I need to give you a little back story. I've been on CAF for what seems like an eternity. I would always Go up to the corner search bar and type in creature to see all the Creature from the black lagoon art that others collected. I would always see this one name come up and dammit if I was not jealous of his entire collection. He would just post one amazing creature piece after another. Going to his gallery was always a treat and by his posts he even introduced me to some artist I was unaware of and then I would commission them. Fast forward to an old Chicago comic con or wizard world Chicago who knows, and there is someone standing behind me in line with his friend. He sees I'm carrying my art portfolio and asks if I he could look at it. I say sure not thinking about it. He looks at the couple pieces I had in there and asks "wait a minute are you the guy collects creature artwork on CAF?". I looked back at him and just thought to myself there is no way this is the other guy who collects creature art. Sure enough it was him. We talked for a little bit in line until the con opens and then went on our way. We ran into each other at the con later and showed each other our spoils. It was the beginning of a great admiration for someone else who collected the same kind of artwork as me. Thru the years we would send each other messages thru CAF and post comments on each others art that we would post. If we were going to the same cons we would make it a point to meet up and catch up and talk art.

So One day out of the blue I get a message from him asking for my address. I had no idea what he was sending me but when I opened this my jaw dropped. No one had ever sent me original art before and I was shocked. He even wrote an amazing letter explaining the art gift.

This is what I love the connections we make as fans and just the sheer generosity of some people.
