Description

Even when working with colored pencils and not his typical watercolors, Dustin has a moody and mysterious style that seems right out of a noir movie.

I really like how he made Rhino so sharp. Eyes, nose, teeth, ear, even his cheek and chin - they all look as sharp as his horns. I also like the long, flat colors - it almost looks like the brush stroke of a watercolor.

Just like Russell Dauterman before, he had never drawn Rhino before - he said that he had fun with a new character!

Completed at NYCC 2025.

Nguyen is using the graphite shading like his watercolors. Especially effective in highlighting the horns and the no neck area so the lines look even sharper.
