Description

Federico Mele is a rising talent. He's been doing painted covers and I know he's fan favorite of original art collectors for his painted commissions. I feel like his paintings keep getting better and better, and we've also gotten to see him flex his sequential art muscles with Image's Knights vs. Samurai, being selected by no less than Todd McFarlane and David Dastmaltian for the project. Also, Fede is one of us, a big original art collector in his own right.

I had stopped by his booth at NYCC just to look at his pre-done work in portfolios and to say hello since we had interacted a bit on FB. It being Saturday I had assumed his list would be full, but he said he had room, he was caught up for the days pick ups and only had work due Sunday to complete. I asked for a Magik and to dial up or down the levels of Demonic as he would prefer.

I was very pleased with the result, NYCC AA on a Saturday is a chaotic space, but he was able to compose a fantastic piece. This was just the bust level with no background but he went above and beyond and delivered a 3/4 figure with a background that compliments the figure beautifully. Thank you, Federico!!

Even in shadow, the spikey and sharp outline silhouette sends enough warning signs to send chills down the spine.
