DescriptionHow cool is this! Saw Andy Kubert at a signing this week… I actually only went because it was local and I had to pick up something else from his rep (Thanks Jason) . While I was there Andy had a couple folios of art from his archives and while it was awesome to see so much of his art that hadn’t seen the light of day in 30 plus years.. I really wasn’t planning on purchasing anything. Then I saw this piece… storm in her classic 90s costume .. the Jim Lee design from the animated series. When I asked Andy what it was used for , he explained that it was done for the Marvel Mania restaurant in universal Hollywood back in the late 90s . I liked the image and it was priced well for a 25 plus year old 11x17 Andy Kubert piece. So I said why not! When I got home I messaged our very own Professor (thanks Derek!) and told him the story and asked if he could find me a pic of it used… now he’s good at finding these things but this one was almost instant! He had his own pictures of it from when he went to the restaurant. Why was it so memorable?? Well she was twenty plus feet tall at the entrance of the restaurant! (See additional picture) … now who else can say they have a piece of 90s X-men comic art that was published in twenty foot tall version??? lol (Bill I think we need a new category!Social/Sharing |

Now you just have to find the published version to add to your collection!

Now that's Strip Mall Power! I guess you gotta buy another Kubert piece to keep the Dolphins' win streak alive.

Great piece - I wish the restaurant had made it. I have a statue that was made to be used when they expanded locations (but never happened). Congrats!

This is pretty awesome, great find and very cool that it was a design for something out in the real world, not just on paper but an actual sign in one of the most popular places in the world. Cheers!
